ANALYZING THE FAKE DMCA

Assuming that the content on reputed websites mumbaimirror.comndtv.com and indiatimes.com are original and legitimate, let us analyze the websites which claimed to host the original content, and accused these websites of copyright violation –

Site 1- bravejournal.in

Our favorite fake website, which started it all. Since we started publishing our investigation reports, the perpetrators have taken down the website. However, they left us a great deal of evidence to collect and examine. Here are some of them below, explaining the entire modus-operandi –

The domain name bravejournal.in was registered on 01 May 2015 by –

Name – Shrikant Mathur
Address – 26/12 Block AB, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi – 110034 (India)
Phone:+91.9711134958 / +91.8130610953 / +91.9958033979
Email: [email protected]

Since the website did NOT exist before 2015, its claims about owning the content published in 2013 are therefore invalid and fake.

Since June 2016, the website was discontinued after we began our investigation. The domain was left to expire, and WE PICKED IT UP. The data we’re getting from its email addresses is crucial. We now have control over the scammers old Twitter and Facebook accounts, which also gives us vital information such as IP logs and personal details, phone numbers etc.

The website is still indexed in Google and display these results (webpages) used in the fake DMCAs

The website was taken down by when we started this investigation. However, here are the evidence which proves without doubt that this was a fraudulent copyright claim –

The website was not even developed before January 2016 as per the web archives

  • It seems that the idea was to impersonate the Indian Media Company ‘DeccanHerald.com‘ so that Google can pass it off as legitimate. We contacted Google and explained to them that this is a fraudulent copyright notice.

SO WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO HIDE ?

Fateh Mohammad Khatri of F.A. Construction has been in the Press since past few years for more bad reasons than good. He faces serious allegations of corruption in the multi-million dollars Irrigation Scam in Maharashtra (India). His son was also arrested while driving a vehicle with no number plates. This civil contractor firm is in the eye of several investigations, and with their current reputation, they find it hard to operate.

EDITOR’S COMMENT : For those who might ask – ‘why and how do we interject that ‘Fateh Mohammad Khatri of F.A. Construction’ has something to do with this fake DMCA. Couldn’t it be a coincidence ?’, we will say this – When someone goes and creates a whole new fake news site, falsifies his/her identity and submits fake DMCA to try and de-list some very targeted content on Google, it signals intent and a plan. It is obvious that ‘Fateh Mohammad Khatri of F.A. Construction’ or someone they hired was directly involved in this crime. Fateh Mohammad Khatri of F.A. Construction also cannot plead ignorance in this matter, since this notice on Google search is hard to miss, really.

We are awaiting more information from Deccan Herald who are equally concerned over this impersonation and deception attempt. The matter is being considered handing to relevant cyber crime authorities in India. If you have any information to add to this investigation, get in touch with us at [email protected]
